PRIAM Stakeholder Workshop Validates IAM Approach and Highlights Key Deployment Priorities

The PRIAM project recently held its second stakeholder workshop, bringing together industry experts, regional authorities, and project partners to assess progress and validate key elements of its Innovative Air Mobility (IAM) solution.

Focusing on two case studies—the Catalan Pyrenees and the La Gomera–Tenerife corridor—the workshop explored IAM deployment scenarios for 2035 and 2050.

Stakeholders confirmed that travel cost and time savings are the most critical factors influencing IAM adoption, with early users expected to be primarily business and high-income travellers. The discussions also reinforced the view of IAM as a complementary, niche transport mode, rather than a mass-market solution.

Key project components presented included:

• Passenger behaviour modelling to identify early adopters

• Mobility demand analysis using mobile network data

• Advanced demand modelling and scenario simulations

• Network planning tools for vertiport deployment

• Optimisation methods for integrating IAM into multimodal systems

  
  

The workshop highlighted several important considerations for future deployment, including:

• The need for realistic pricing and potential subsidies

• The importance of regulatory clarity and governance structures

• The role of IAM in improving accessibility in remote and underserved regions

  
  

Stakeholders also identified major barriers such as infrastructure costs, regulatory complexity, and social acceptance, while emphasising that IAM investments should prioritise societal impact and accessibility gains.

Overall, the workshop confirmed strong alignment between stakeholder expectations and PRIAM’s modelling approach, providing valuable input for the next stages of the project.
